Policy makers and practitioners in communities across the country are working hard to identify the programs that hold the greatest promise for preventing and ending homelessness. To do so, they need reliable information and guidance that is grounded in research and experience. We created the Center to provide a national source of information on the continuum of evidence-based policy and practice—from promising practices to initiatives that have been tested through rigorous research approaches.
At the heart of the Center is a cadre of experts who have a thorough understanding of the evidence base on homelessness and the technical skills to execute rigorous studies and evaluations, as well as practical experience on program implementation. The Center sits at the nexus of practice and research: our evidence-based research informs practice in the field, and our direct experience informs our research.
The Center was founded by nationally recognized experts on homelessness at Abt Associates. Abt Associates is a mission-driven, global leader in research, evaluation and program implementation in the fields of health, social and environmental policy, and international development.

HRH The Duke of Cambridge has been our Patron since 2005 - following in the footsteps of his mother, Princess Diana. Prince William would visit our hostels when he was a child and, when it was his turn to take over some of her patronages, Centrepoint was the first one he chose. He regularly visits us both in the public eye, but also in private, so he can meet and chat to the young people we support.
We aim to give homeless young people a future and we want to end youth homelessness by 2037.
More than 400 staff work for Centrepoint across the country, supporting homeless young people into a home and a job every day.
They include front line workers based in our hostels, counsellors and health supporters.
We're also led by a Board of Trustees, which holds us to account, and supported by a wonderful Patron and group of dedicated ambassadors.
Thousands of people help make Centrepoint the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity – our supporters, volunteers, staff and ambassadors all play a huge part in helping us create real change. Here are just a few of those dedicated individuals helping us give homeless young people a future.

Originating in 1906, Citygate Network is North America’s oldest and largest community of independent, faith-based crisis shelters and life-transformation centers. In most major cities, a member of Citygate Network is the most comprehensive homeless services provider, and in some cities, it is the only homeless services provider.

Under the Homeless Emergency Assistance and Rapid Transition to Housing (HEARTH) Act passed in 2009, an entire community, rather than individual service providers, must demonstrate success in preventing and reducing homelessness. in 2011, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) named Houston as a priority community. This designation recognizes the great need to transform Houston’s existing homeless service system and the tremendous opportunity to make significant advances due to the commitment of homeless service agencies and the contributions of key community stakeholders.
