Somerville’s many businesses--from small retailers to experimental restaurants to innovative technology companies--play a big role in making our city a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family. Originating in 1906, Citygate Network is North America’s oldest and largest community of independent, faith-based crisis shelters and life-transformation centers. In most major cities, a member of Citygate Network is the most comprehensive homeless services provider, and in some cities, it is the only homeless services provider.
Our vision is to transform young lives through the power of character mentoring. We work with schools and families to help young people unlock their potential, flourish in all areas of their lives, and contribute positively to their communities.
To achieve our vision we hold six core values. These shape and inform our work, and are fundamental to the way we treat every member of the Citywise family: children, parents and carers, volunteers, staff and other supporters.
The mission of the Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles is to help renew the civil rights movement by bridging the worlds of ideas and action, to be a preeminent source of intellectual capital within that movement, and to deepen the understanding of the issues that must be resolved to achieve racial and ethnic equity as society moves through the great transformation of the 21st century.
Climate Action Network-International (CAN) is the world’s largest environmental network of over 1,500 non-governmental organisations in over 130 countries fighting the climate crisis.
Since its inception in the 1980s, CAN has grown into a strong, member-driven network with a membership spanning all six continents in over 130 countries.
With its diversity of membership and long-standing experience in steering the climate movement, CAN continues to seek alignment and build bridges with partners and stakeholders across the climate movement and beyond to pressure governments to take bold and urgent climate action to end the era of fossil fuels and address the needs of the most vulnerable people impacted by the climate crisis.
For more than 25 years, Climate Alliance member municipalities have been acting in partnership with indigenous rainforest peoples for the benefit of the global climate. With some 1,700 members spread across 27 European countries, Climate Alliance is the world’s largest city network dedicated to climate action and the only one to set tangible targets: each member city, town and district has committed itself to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 10 percent every 5 years. Recognising the impact our lifestyles can have on the world's most vulnerable people and places, Climate Alliance pairs local action with global responsibility. The network fosters cooperation with indigenous peoples, runs awareness raising campaigns and develops tools for climate action planning. It provides ample opportunity for participation and exchange while representing member interests at the national, European and international levels. climatealliance.org
